Life Dancing: it is all about the dance in between…

In the last few months, I have started to believe that life is all about dancing…

On the same note, after 30 years, I have begun to practice modern dance at age 40! I recommend dancing to all women out there who ever danced as a child and loved it, just start again… there is something in the music with the body movement that just makes a great energy flow in our body!

Today, I wish to talk about what I call” life dancing” …because:

  1. We need to dance….

In between hard and soft

In between this child and the other one

In between work and home

In between being a wife and a mom

In between self -care and other people care

In between giving and taking

In between healthy meals and junk food

In between career and home

In between fragile and tough

In between weekdays and weekends

In between running with daily errands and resting

Balance is the key to finding happiness and success… and this is such a difficult task. It is not about following a math formula like 10 minutes of smile + 15 minutes of self-care a day + 3 hours of career focused tasks= happiness.

The dosage is totally personal. Each of us needs a different dosage to feel fulfilled, happy, true to ourselves. It is not even something we can learn from others, from elders or friends. That specific dosage is something we can only learn by ourselves with lots of self-listening, self-love, and patience.

2. We need to Dance with a certain charm, a smile, grace…because everything can be said or accepted if done with a smile, with a certain sensitivity…

That part is also challenging! At least for me. Do you always feel like smiling and making your way around with grace? Absolutely not!

Sometimes you just want things done! Not to leave the towel on the floor, make your bed, help with the dishwasher…I am tired from the day, only want to rest and need help. Who is thinking of

being charming in that moment?

This is part of the dance: learn to do things with a smile or delay them. Nothing will happen if dishes stay unwashed for the night. The morning after, you are full of energy, a new day comes, and you can finish that task much quicker and with a smile!

Another example is when I am mad at my husband. I have two options: I can just throw my emotions at him at him and let him deal with it (some men can deal with it!) or…choose a time and a place so all can be said in a tone that he can understand and accept.

3. Dancing through joy…

because you cannot dance and be sad at the same time! It just does not work! You cannot dance and be depressed. When you dance, you feel lighter and enjoy the music, the path, the road.

4. Choose your music.

We all like different music. Some like rock, classic, jazz…Each has a different tempo, a different rhythm, different voice that sound better or not to our ears. We all have our own pace in life. Some people act fast, decide fast, rest less, do so much in a day. Others prefer to do all slowly, one task a day is good enough! They do not look to do more, but prefer to think more, plan more, define better and act less.

So the new expression that I use now is life dancing!

If we can find the way to dance through life, we will learn the right dosage in everything we need, we will smile and feel good, we will enjoy the path and be in harmony with our own rhythm!

My advice for today: Dance through LIFE!
