People to People: Using LEGO® for Women!

I usually interview in this Section toy developers because I believe Parents should know more about them as people, who there are, what are their values, why and how they developed that game…

This article is a bit different because I met a lady who actually uses LEGO® bricks, SWAROVSKI® crystals to make unique jewelry! I had to share this here for Moms!

Meet Sarah NOLY , Founder of Mademoiselle Alma…

Sarah NOLY, known as an “up-and-coming” French-Israeli designer of MADEMOISELLE ALMA, born and raised in PARIS and now living between the City of Light – and of Fashion & Luxury;) – and TEL AVIV.

She studied both Political Science… and Art and obtained a MBA of Luxury Industry.

All the products are hand-made and uniquely crafted for children, women and men by myself.

All pieces promise to add dignified charm to your child’s daily wear and a touch of “je ne sais quoi” to your own subtle elegance.

What made you think of this original idea?

I love very original pieces of clothes and Fashion. I am also a fan of the painter “Piet MONDRIAN” and the “BAUHAUS” movement…

When my daughter ALMA was born, I decided I wanted for her very original pieces of jewelry and I just had this idea of creating them!

I am a single Mum and she is my ‘only’ child and then she naturally became ‘my Muse’… for the launch of “Mademoiselle Alma”!

So inspired by my daughter ALMA – name meaning Mademoiselle (Miss) in Hebrew – I created jewelry made from LEGO® bricks, SWAROVSKI® crystals and of course, a great amount of imagination.

Why LEGO®?

I was fond of Art and creation since ever…

I do love the plastic material (and not the wood for example) and colors too…

Not to mention, that one part of me is also very childish… which is a quality to my eyes!

So, the Danish little bricks were a perfect media to create.

Have you played a lot with LEGO® as a child?

Yes, of course! Then I continue as a parent!

Now we build different things during playtime with my daughter mostly, like imaginary planets… but most of the time we build and unbuild and don’t keep the models…

Most of the time, we also love to create more models of Jewelry for our pleasure only, which are not for sale…

What is the fun part in making your products?

It’s one of the perfect ways to express myself with passion!

Why would a woman use a “TOY” as a jewelry?

I think it’s like to pay homage to our childhood.

It was also the opportunity to introduce “toy” into Fashion in a luxurious way.

Have you thought about recycling old LEGO® parts during the process?

Yes, I know this movement of “trashion” (trash + fashion) or “upcycling” which I do appreciate, but personally I wanted to aim the perfect “high-quality” design.

That’s the reason I use only brand new original LEGO® bricks and SWAROVSKI® crystals for my Jewelry – assembled from “high-quality” materials without nickel, lead, or chemicals.
